When You Need a Precise Facelift, Consider the Mini Facelift

Updated: Sep 17, 2018

When it comes to facelift surgeries, a mini facelift surgery is one of the most popular options. In the past, facelift surgeries were considered major surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia and lengthy hospital stays. But now, thanks to advances in medicine and technology, this surgery can be conveniently performed in a few hours in our office suite.

The goal of a mini-facelift procedure is to address the sagging skin and wrinkles on the lower part of the face, typically the jowls and neck.

Should I Get a Mini Facelift?

Have you recently noticed sagging or a “dropping” of your face around your jawline? Is there a loss of definition? If you have noticed these changes and want to restore your appearance, you are likely an ideal candidate for a mini facelift.

All you need to do is talk to an expert about the procedure and understand its basic principles. This can be accomplished during a consultation with Dr. Kim. After this, Dr. Kim will provide you with a treatment plan to bring back that youthful-looking appearance.

The Mini-Facelift Procedure

The mini facelift is typically performed under twilight sedation in our in-office surgical suite. It involves creating incisions around the ears. Once the incisions are made, the skin and muscle are pulled back and tightened. Sutures are used to close the incisions. A head wrap is tightly worn around the head for the first ten days after surgery.

What to Expect

A mini facelift is a simple outpatient procedure, which means you can return home on the same day. You will follow up with Dr. Kim the next day to re-wrap the dressing. You may experience bruising, swelling, and soreness for seven to ten days.

The sutures that were used to close the incisions around the ears will be removed during a follow-up appointment ten days after your procedure.

Dr. Kim will prescribe medication to help with a faster and more comfortable recovery. Smoking should be avoided completely after the procedure to avoid complications. Ideally, patients should stay away from smoking for at least a few months.
