Laser Facial Vein Removal

Facial veins are small red to purple dilated blood vessels or broken capillaries that can appear anywhere in the face. These can appear as a single vein, dispersed, or collected throughout the face, which can become unattractive and bothersome.

A variety of factors such as exposure to ultraviolet light, wind, and extreme temperatures are some causes. In addition, genetics, previous injuries, natural aging process, and excessive alcohol are other causes.

As facial veins progress to grow, makeup and concealers will be less effective for coverage. Dr. Kim uses the YAG Laser treatment to safely remove these undesirable veins.

Procedure
The YAG Laser delivers a focused energy burst of light using short and long pulse durations, which is absorbed by the blood vessels and coagulates the blood within them, causing them to collapse and seal. The body’s immune system will remove these damaged vessels in the next several weeks, making the annoying veins disappear.

The procedure takes between 15 to 20 minutes in duration. Patients treated with the YAG Laser feel only mild discomfort during treatment and usually require only a topical anesthesia.

How Many Treatments are Needed?
For most facial veins, the procedure may need to be repeated 2-3 times, spaced 3-4 weeks apart, and more treatments may be done as needed. On smaller problems, only one treatment may suffice.

Post Treatment
Everyone heals at various rates depending on the depth of treatment, the areas treated, and your own healing rate. Some redness or scratched appearance may occur right after the procedure, which typically fades in about 48 hours. Noticeable results are typically seen in a few weeks. Make up may be applied following the treatment.
