Unlike collagen injections, the filler is not mixed with lidocaine to reduce pain, so the procedure may have slightly more pain and discomfort involved. Minor complications such as swelling, redness, and pain at the injection sites are common, but resolve themselves within a few days. Pain is usually controlled with over the counter pain medication.
Restylane
Developed in Sweden, this filler lasts much longer than collagen or autologous fat injections. Restylane is a clear liquid gel made of hyaluronic acid.
The filler attracts additional water molecules to the area providing for long lasting benefits. The procedure itself takes from fifteen to thirty minutes, but the results can last for six months and often even longer.
Radiesse
This dermal filler is made of calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel. The chemical make up of Radiesse actually stimulates your body to produce more collagen, enhancing the benefits of this filler even more. Unlike other dermal fillers, it continues to work over time.
