Photorejuvenation Therapy using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is presently considered the ultimate skin refining method, primarily due to its dramatic results, long-lasting effectiveness, convenience, and ability to least invasively and simultaneously address a variety of concerns (e.g., photo-damage, birthmarks, acne scars, and hair removal). IPL sends pulses of light through a flat glass handpiece to remove the most superficial layer of skin, reaching beneath the surface to virtually 'erase' your facial flaws, and stimulate increased collagen in the deeper skin layers. MediLux™ IPL Hair Removal

MediLux™ intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal technology provides an excellent alternative to waxing and shaving for all skin and hair types. MediLux IPL allows selective light concentration directly to the hair follicle to effectively remove unwanted hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

This procedure is simple, comfortable, and can be performed on any area of the face or body. Each procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes with zero recovery time. Treatment plans are individually tailored based on the client's situation, but usually a series of six (6) MediLux™ IPL treatments are suggested to ensure long-term effects relative to the hair growth cycle.

A description of the hair growth cycle is provided below to assist you in better understanding and appreciating the necessity of a treatment series.

Hair growth occurs in three distinct phases:

1) anagen, 2) catagen, and 3) telogen.

The cycle starts with the anagen stage where the hair actively grows over several months; the length of this stage determines the length of the hair. Hair follicles then enter the catagen regression phase where the hair bulb begins to shrink. The telogen, or resting phase, lasts for a few months until the hair is released from the shriveled follicle and the process starts over again.

By initiating a series of six (6) MediLux™ IPL treatments, we can best ensure every follicle is contacted during each hair growth phase?resulting in the most effective outcome.

Though MediLux™ IPL hair removal is considered permanent after the sixth treatment, hormonal changes occur with age and can sometimes reestablish growth in previously eliminated hair or cause new hair to grow in areas where it was not formerly evident. In these instances, MediLux™ IPL may be repeated as a 'touch-up' treatment.
