Facial Rejuvenation
Dr. Kim offers a variety of minimally invasive injectable filler treatments that can improve the appearance of aging skin by plumping up areas that have lost elasticity. These injections can usually be performed in a few minutes with zero downtime and commonly produce immediate results. A powerful numbing lotion is applied to the injection site to anesthetize the skin. Some swelling will result following the injection, but not enough to require pain medication and you may return to work and normal activities immediately following your treatment. If you are interested in trying an injectable treatment, Dr. Kim can make an assessment and suggest the best possible facial rejuvenation option for your specific condition. The effects of these products last for varying amounts of time and subsequent injection treatments can be performed whenever a 'touchup' is necessary.
BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Injections-BTX)
BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Injections-BTX), most commonly referred to by the product name, are FDA-approved biological toxins that are injected into areas of the skin that contract during facial expressions (e.g., frowning or squinting) to relieve brow furrows, "crow's feet", and wrinkles. Though results vary and are not permanent, noticeable improvement is evident within days and lasts up to four months.
Collagen treatments
Collagen treatments are used to replace collagen lost through the normal aging process. Collagen is a natural substance derived from purified bovine collagen and is injected into the skin to minimize wrinkles, "crow's feet", and deep smile lines, plump lips, and improve acne scars. Typically, there is no recovery downtime and the effects last up to three months.
Restylane®/Radiesse®
Restylane®/Radiesse® are non-animal hyaluronic acid products that are injected into the skin or lip (see lip augmentation) to diminish wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body, so allergic reactions are rare. Treatment takes about 30 minutes and has immediate results. Restylane®/Radiesse® are naturally integrated into skin tissue and dissolve over time, but can last up to a year.
Fat Injection
Under local anesthesia and light sedation, fat cells are harvested using a needle/syringe and are re-injected into specified areas of the face. Overall, this technique results in a plump, youthful look making the entire face rejuvenated.
